WELCOME BACK, ELIZABETH — IT’S BEEN A WEIL!

ModSquad

We regularly feature profiles highlighting the exceptional work performed by our Project Managers and Account Managers. From time to time, as is the case in any company, a valuable employee will decide that it’s time to move on and explore new frontiers. While we always wish them well as they bring their refined skills to bear in a new capacity, it’s always tough to say goodbye.

This is what makes it such a treat for us to welcome a highly regarded, exceptionally talented coworker back into the fold. We’re delighted that Elizabeth Weil has decided to once again hang her hat at Metaverse Mod Squad. We tell ya, once you sip the Kool-Aid here, it’s hard to get it out of your system…

Car SelfieElizabeth joined the company in January 2009 as a part-time silent moderator. In her eight hours each weekend, Elizabeth moderated forums for a major movie/television studio’s website. The mother of young children, she was looking for part-time work that could be performed from home.

Over the next few months, Metaverse Mod Squad launched projects with a pair of children’s-entertainment properties. Elizabeth was asked to step into the Project Manager role for these assignments. With her children moving into preschool and elementary school, the timing was perfect, and Elizabeth upped her weekly hours. She soon added other projects to her PM portfolio, and before long was offered an employee position with the company.

Around that time, we hired her husband Rich as a VP. He oversaw a project revolving around a popular animated-film franchise, and needed to be based in our Sacramento, California office. The Weil family decided the time was right for a change of scenery, and relocated from Georgia to California. Elizabeth continued adding responsibilities to her roster, including projects for HarperCollins, Everlooop, and PBS Kids.

When the Account Manager role was established at Metaverse, Elizabeth was the obvious choice to take on this challenging role. She oversaw intense customer-support projects including multiple tiers of service (including technical support) for such companies of all sizes. She helped institute many of the core processes followed by the company to this day.

But Elizabeth wanted to refocus her energies on her family. She decided to take time off to be a full-time mom and also fulfill her ambition to take Tae Kwon Do lessons. (She’s currently a “recommended black belt,” so we certainly hope that nothing in this article upsets her!)

After recharging her batteries, and seeing her kids spending more time in school, Elizabeth decided that it was time to get back to work. And we’re certainly glad she decided to come home! But with all of the options available to her, why did Elizabeth return to Metaverse Mod Squad?

“I like the culture of Metaverse,” she says. “It’s not the standard dusty corporate culture. The company is innovative; we’re on the cutting edge of technology. I get to work with a large, diverse workforce. And I still enjoy the moderation component of the job!”

“I want to experience Metaverse’s continued growth. When I started, there were only a few contractors and employees. The number of people at Metaverse now is amazing! I’m really looking forward to getting back into the swing of things.”
