Project Manager of the Quarter — November 2020
We’re lucky to have a super-talented group of people managing clients’ projects here at ModSquad. That’s why we enjoy regularly introducing you to some of the folks who make the magic happen every single day. Our Project Managers are a key element to that success. This quarter’s featured PM is a sterling example; she not only embraces and excels at highly detailed projects, she enjoys every second of it. Let’s meet the dynamic, unforgettable Kristi Martin.
Here at ModSquad, multitalented Kristi’s capabilities are well regarded. Her impressive skill set allows her to fit into any project and offer great service no matter what’s asked of her. With a background rooted in customer support, it’s no wonder she’s earned the respect of everyone she works with.
Six years after joining us, it seems inevitable that Kristi would have become a ModSquad standout. She remembers being offered the chance to interview with the company at just the right time, and says the stars aligned. Ever since, she’s enjoyed working on numerous client assignments that have given her invaluable experience. Looking back at those engagements, she notes, “I’ve really enjoyed the variety of projects that I’ve ‘PMed.’ I’ve learned so much.”
Kristi is currently working on a project that has her prepping for an online game’s spring launch. She’s putting her all into this endeavor, understanding that her success will play an important role in the game’s rollout. “I’d love to see the beta be really successful so that the game has a great launch,” she says.
Her recent assignments have allowed Kristi to dig into new roles, which she’s taken on whole-heartedly. She reveals, “A year ago, I would have said customer service was my favorite service offering, but I’m also really enjoying my gaming moderation and engagement projects.”
When she’s not facilitating game play at work, Kristi has a rich family life, with a son in high school, two grown daughters, and three very young grandchildren. The latest addition to the family, her grandson, is just three months old. Back when she was raising her kids, Kristi honed a few talents that she enjoys to this day — baking and art. During her children’s early years, Kristi hand-painted their rooms with murals depicting their favorite characters and scenery. While she still loves creating children’s murals, her more recent projects include refurbishing old furniture and making hand-crafted decorations from used glass bottles. Truly, Kristi has a talent for finding beauty in what others might overlook.
Kristi’s talents at work are similarly apparent. Those who have had the chance to collaborate with Kristi cite her incredible work ethic, problem-solving skills, and willingness to pitch in and help when needed. She’s someone who doesn’t shy away from tough tasks and who excels in changing environments. We asked a few of her colleagues to talk a bit about working with Kristi.
“Kristi has helped with every little issue across multiple projects — whether she’s the PM on those projects or not. She’s a champ.”
— Izzy Neis, Head of Digital
“If you’ve ever had the opportunity to work with Kristi, you already know she delivers stellar work. She manages everyone well on the projects she’s working on, and she keeps her clients happy and her Account Managers informed.”
— Monica A., Account Manager
“I loved having Kristi on my projects. She’s ‘good people,’ with an unreal work ethic.”
— Halsey B., Account Manager
To finish up our chat, we asked Kristi to play a round of Only One Thing. Here are her answers:
Q: If you could have an endless supply of food, what would it be?
A: Do drinks count? Coffee is far more important than food!
Q: If you could only listen to one kind of music, what would it be?
A: Eighties rock.
Q: If you could only have one app on your phone, what would it be?
A: The find my phone app (first-world problems).
Q: If you only had one day to travel to any location in the world, where would you go?
A: If it’s only one day, I would go to Derry and hang out with my ModSquad friends.
Q: If you could only recommend one book that people should read, what would it be?
A: When I was six, I grabbed 1984 from my Dad’s collection. That was the first book I ever read outside of my Trixie Belden and Bobbsey Twins collections, so it sticks with me as my favorite of all time.
