People of ModSquad – April 2022

ModSquad

Tweet, tweet! Ever wonder who’s behind ModSquad’s social handles? Well, meet one of the fun folks driving our social content, Community Manager and Digital Strategist Chelse Hensley.

Chelse was born and raised in the country roads of West Virginia, but now calls Charleston, South Carolina home. “Being in Charleston is the best for creativity,” says Chelse. “I love how energetic my city is. I’m constantly inspired by its architecture, the buzzing food and beverage scene, and the open ocean and waterways. It’s a dream!”

In her life before the pandemic (which she refers to as “BP”), Chelse was a digital nomad, working from countries the world over. During this time, the dedicated voyager ran a popular travel blog. It all fit in with her belief that one’s outside world inspires one’s work. During her travels, she discovered one spot from which to work that remains her favorite — Las Palmas, in the Canary Islands. She can still see it all: “There are so many cafés with great cuisine inspired by Spanish and Moroccan influences. Being steps from the sandy beaches or the historical old town is perfection.”

As she traveled, Chelse worked with companies and clients around the world, from the Chamber of Commerce for a major European capital city to a popular TV outdoorsman. Eventually she craved stability and a home base, so she sought out a company where she could utilize her breadth of experience and settle down, both personally and professionally. She applied to ModSquad, which checked all the boxes, and the rest is history.

Chelse not only brings her magic to ModSquad’s social channels; she also manages social media for several of our clients. The travel fan inside her prompts Chelse to name a U.S-based international airport as one of her very favorite projects. She appreciates that “they allow me to flex my creative chops and trust me with the freedom to play and succeed.”

As for ModSquad, Chelse loves the culture of the business. She points to how ModSquad gives back to our communities by participating in the annual Extra Life event, when all of ModSquad comes together to raise money for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. “It’s really a joy to be a part of,” she says. “It’s for a great cause, and you can feel how our company collectively champions the initiative and how it nourishes our internal culture.”

She’s also a big fan of ModSquad’s remote model. “I’ve heard it said that ModSquad is the least remote company. It’s true – although some of us will likely never meet many of our colleagues in real life, it doesn’t feel that way at all. ModSquad encourages everyone to build rapport and connections like no other company – to the extent that I consider several of my coworkers friends.”

For those looking to start a career at ModSquad, she notes, “There’s a lot to learn, so be patient and you’ll pick everything up at your pace. People here are happy to help – there’s always someone just a quick Slack ping away.”

We congratulate Chelse on all of her great work, for ModSquad’s channels and on behalf of our clients. Her creativity makes our social posts – and pages – unique.
