Mod Recommendations for Movie Night and Game Night
If ever there was a group of people with their fingers on the pulse of pop culture, it’s the Mods. It’s no wonder they so adeptly manage the many entertainment clients we serve, from video game developers to film and television companies. So what do the Mods like to watch and play in their spare time? From TV shows and movies to music and video games, we’ve got some great recommendations from the Mods.
“I’m loving any travel show I can watch right now. I’ve always loved traveling, whether across the world or just to a nearby city or state park. I’m currently enjoying Basic Versus Baller: Travel at Any Cost. It features these brothers who visit cities around the world; one will travel in high style with a huge budget, and the other is stuck with a tiny budget and stays in hostels and eats street food. I especially love that they dive into nearly any body of water they can. They’re great sports!”
— Olivia L.
“I love to play games like Pokémon GO. I’ve been playing the game since its release in 2016. I’ve never really been a fan of mobile games, but this one motivates me to move around a little more.”
— Kristy P.
“WandaVision! That is all.”
— Sheryl T.
“I’ve been playing the video game Layers of Fear 2. I like to create a spooky ambience when playing scary games, so we turn off all the lights in the house and light candles to maximize the chills!”
— Geneva H.
“We are currently watching, in no particular order: The Great Pottery Throw Down, cooking shows like MasterChef, Scandinavian crime shows like Trapped, and quiz shows like Who Wants to be a Millionaire. I try to watch active art programs where you’re encouraged to take part in challenges. On Grayson’s Art Club, there’s a weekly theme. One such topic was food, and I had a wild day painting a canvas red and throwing real pasta on it. I think most entertaining are the programs that inspire you to do something, be it art or cooking.”
— Gina H.
“I’m not a gamer by any means, but my son and I have been playing NHL 21 on our PlayStation 5 and Luigi’s Mansion 3 on our Switch, and we’ve been having a great time. We’ve also been playing with LEGOs when the weather is bad, which has been so much fun.”
— Halsey B.
“I’ve spent many hours playing Valheim, exploring and perfecting my ability to craft houses. On TV, it’s WandaVision.”
— Elizabeth A.
“I’m playing Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age on Xbox One (which I’m going to finish this time, by hook or by crook).”
— Cory B.
“Tombstone is one of those films that I could probably watch every day for the rest of my life. It’s a historically inaccurate mess, and it’s about 20 minutes too long, but I have to stop everything and watch whenever I stumble across it. What was supposed to be a movie riding the coattails of the larger budget Wyatt Earp film with Kevin Costner ended up being the much better work by far, thanks to infinitely quotable dialogue and wonderful performances by Kurt Russell, Sam Elliott, Powers Boothe, and Val Kilmer in what remains his greatest role as the ridiculously sly and charming Doc Holliday.”
— Robert B.
“For the past few weeks, I’ve been playing Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury on my Nintendo Switch. It’s super fun and was quite awesome to play with friends during the crazy times when things were closed down and we didn’t have much to do. It was the perfect companion on a 30-hour long train ride I recently had from Denmark to Slovenia; the time went by so fast!”
— David M.
And here’s a suggestion for some tunes to play on your next game night:
“Nick Cave and Warren Ellis recently released an album, Carnage. Shockingly, it’s the only work they’ve done as a duo (outside of soundtracks, of course!). It’s phenomenal. I’m on my third listen already. It won’t be released physically until May, but it’s available to stream online right now. It literally gets better with every track. “Shattered Ground” and “Balcony Man” almost floored me, they’re that good.”
— Gerard R.
They say that variety is the spice of life. If that’s the case, there sure are plenty of unique spices and flavors to enjoy in our Mods’ entertainment potpourri. When it comes to pop culture, our Mods certainly know how to have a good time.
