Friday Protip: Short Tweets Get Retweeted

When tweeting, don’t use every character. Limit yourself to around 120 characters, so people can retweet your announcement without having to edit or condense.

If someone from MMS is running your Twitter feed, we’ll edit and condense our hearts out in order to make your feed as hot and happening as possible. But your fans won’t, especially if they’re on their mobile devices instead of their desktop computers. They’ll hit RT, realize the message is too long, and either cut off the end or not bother to send anything. Help them make you famous, and keep it short and tweet.
