Farewell, and Thanks

It is with mixed emotions that I take my leave of you all. It’s been a wonderful year, and I’ve really enjoyed writing this blog. I tried to write such that startups and small companies could get the kind of advice that you can’t afford until you don’t need it!

I’ve had some people ask, why Metaverse? Why would you want to work here, or hire us? Here’s my two cents from my point of view. Bear with me, I’m about to cheerlead, but you never met a group of people who deserved it more.

The great thing about Metaverse is the way we create opportunity:

– Opportunity for clients. You need something cleaned up, connected, planned, and staffed? You don’t have time/ability to train? You need it now? No problem. So often that’s an empty slogan, but not here. Everyone I’ve met at Metaverse is a creative, can-do person. Everyone works hard, and loves their work.

– Opportunity for employees. The big challenge for me in the last few years is to find a creative, interesting job with an employer who could handle me working remotely. At Metaverse, I found a variety of interesting jobs with an extremely flexible schedule, working with people who take for granted that all employees want to work hard and well no matter if they’re onsite or offsite.

– Opportunity for connections. I didn’t just connect with the company. I connected with colleagues, employers, and customers. I was talking with Mike Pinkerton about the strengths of Metaverse, and he said that one of our biggest assets is that none of us are ever alone. If you tap one of us on the shoulder, you’re actually tapping this huge network of people with experience and good attitudes about sharing that experience.

And that leads me to the last point I’d like to make. There is a real fear of sharing information in the virtual world space, as if comparing data would give competitors a major advantage. People with experience hoard their knowledge, for fear that giving it away for free will lessen its value.

Neither fear is valid. No one can successfully copy what you do unless they know why you did it, and unless they have the identical customer base. And you don’t know the value of your information until you put it out there.

Don’t fear connection. Embrace it. Companies come and go, and so do products. But connections are forever.
