We have an immediate opportunity for an entrepreneurial-minded individual to direct and provide hands-on accounting operational support for the company and our remarkable network of “mods,” the crowdsourced contributors we engage around the world on a flexible basis to perform outsourced services like content moderation, social media and customer support.

As the Director, Accounting Operations you will report to the Chief Operating Officer and be responsible for all areas of accounting operations, including managing our accounting/payroll team, working with our payroll outsourcer, financial institutions and people operations team, and hands-on accounting operational support.

The company has an operation center in Northern California and offices in New York, but the location is flexible, with a preference for the Bay Area or Sacramento.

What you will do:

Accounting department operations, including G/L, A/P, invoicing, collection and payroll across 50 states and internationally
Direct a tight general ledger month-end close process and preparation of monthly consolidated financial statements
Continually evaluate and optimize month-end close processes, striving to deliver process automation, improved accuracy and higher customer service
Review and improve departmental controls, procedures, and technology toolsets
Annual filings for corporate income tax
Supervise, develop, mentor, establish and review goals for the accounting team
Work alongside the leadership team to fulfill the company vision, culture, and values

Who you are:

A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or business
CPA preferred
Expert in and passion for cutting-edge accounting technology tools
8+ years progressively responsible accounting and finance experience
Experience in tech and/or service industries preferred
Experience in high-growth companies preferred
Must be “hands on” and a proven effective leader
Proven ability and desire to work effectively, delivering accurate results under tight deadlines, in a fast-paced entrepreneurial, dynamic environment
Experience managing payments to a highly distributed and diverse workforce across multiple states and even internationally
Excellent verbal, written communication skills and presentation skills
