Community Professional: Customizable. Flexible.

ModSquad

Being a Community Professional is not what I expected. Oh, don’t get me wrong, it’s been great and I hope to be doing this for a long time, but the only constant in my ten months on the job has been change, and that’s a good thing. The wonderful thing about Metaverse Mod Squad is that We. Do. That. We do what? We do whatever the client needs and the short time I’ve spent as a Community Manager has been a testament to that.  I’m incredibly flexible, we all are, and that is what makes us good at what we do. In the fast-paced, ever-changing online arena you have to be ready to change directions in an instant and create new strategies that apply to the only time that matters, right now.

When I took my current position the objectives and day-to-day duties were totally different than what they are now. Rather dramatically, our client’s needs changed and my duties went from those of maintenance to shaking up and changing everything involved with the project. For the most part we work in the “Metaverse,” that collective online space we call home and, which means that shuffling the deck and changing one’s location can be done without ever standing up from your desk, but sometimes a unique circumstance arises and a client needs one of us to physically relocate in order to meet one of the project’s demands.

For the last four months I’ve been living and working in South America in order to create a customized service that is exactly what our client needs. It worked out well because I already knew some Spanish and had lived and traveled in South America before I took this job, but if I was not able to, we would have selected someone else who was willing and able to get the job done from our diverse pool of talent.

Living and working in a foreign country is a fantastic experience and I have made the most of it, but at times it can be rough. Naturally I miss my friends and family and no matter how hard I’ve tried I have never been able to fully adjust to certain customs. Luckily, I’ve been so busy here that I haven’t had much time to think about where I’m located. I’m excited for whatever is next and take great pride in being a part of the custom solution. It’s all about getting the job done by any means necessary and that means customizable, flexible solutions, that’s what we do.
