Account Manager Spotlight – Mark Concannon

ModSquad

Our Account Manager Spotlight features someone who’s a familiar face to Mod Blog readers. It was just three years ago that we profiled Mark Concannon as our Project Manager of the Quarter; now he’s an Account Manager. Having started with the company as a Mod, Mark is familiar with the ins and outs of working with clients and their customers.

Born and raised in Derry-Londonderry, Northern Ireland, Mark has a five month old son who keeps him on his toes. After his upcoming wedding this summer, he and his fiancé plan to travel around Ireland and have a pint of Guinness in every county by the end of 2023. (Here’s to that, Mark!)

We took a few minutes to catch up with Mark and find out more about his role as a ModSquad Account Manager.

Tell us about your background and what led you to ModSquad.

Before ModSquad, I spent six years working in call centers for some of the biggest clients in the UK broadband and phone sectors. I was studying for my degree when I heard ModSquad was coming to Derry. After some research, it was clear I wanted to work here. I graduated in 2015 and started to work for ModSquad in July 2016 as a Mod. Through the opportunities available at ModSquad, I eventually applied for and was hired as an Account Manager.

What are you doing in your current role?

As an Account Manager, I manage client relationships for companies including a major medical device and digital health company, as well as one of the top ebook publishers. These projects are both multitiered and multilingual. Each project is different and exciting!

What ModSquad experience stands out to you?

I was a Project Manager at ModSquad for nearly four years. I had the pleasure of working with some of the biggest companies in the industry. Every day was something new, which makes each day enjoyable. I was responsible for projects with up to 150 Mods. Being a PM was really enjoyable. It makes working alongside Project Managers in my new role so rewarding. It also means I can offer support to new and existing PMs if needed.

What else have you been doing lately?

I’m a new dad! Any time that I’m not on the computer I spend with my five month old son. I learn something new from him every day. It has been the best experience of my life.

I also recently completed a Management in Leadership course from the North West Regional College as a way to hone my skills and continue to implement new and effective ways to communicate with our Mods and managers.

What has been your most rewarding experience at ModSquad?

I’ve had so many rewarding experiences over the years. I think the one that is most special is when I helped launch the Real Time Operations team. The team was originally created for one specific project, but it was so popular we launched it for many additional projects at ModSquad!

Any other great stories from your time at ModSquad that stand out?

For ModSquad’s tenth anniversary, we had a celebration in Derry that allowed me to meet many different people whom I don’t normally interact with on a day to day basis. It was a great evening with lots of good memories made!

What advice would you give to those just starting at ModSquad?

Ask as many questions as possible. Understanding the full needs of the client or role will only benefit you and get the desired results everyone is looking to achieve.

What do you think is the most important task you do in your role – that you personally work hardest on or excel in most?

Building relationships with our clients! Our clients come to ModSquad for our expert support, and it’s my job to build that relationship with them to ensure they see the full benefits of what ModSquad can offer.

What sets ModSquad apart, in your opinion?

It’s our flexibility. Our Mod network currently spans 70+ countries and 50+ languages. We’re able to scale to meet client needs while delivering exceptional customer experiences. All and all, it’s the recipe for success!
